I am so excited to present Mark with the clinician of the month award for January of 2017! Mark has been with CMS since 2011, is an absolutely pleasure to work with, and receives amazing clinical feedback from all those who work with him. He has been an absolute all-star, balancing a full time, demanding staff load working in the PICU at Children’s Medical Center all while picking up full time agency ER contracts at the following hospitals: Baltimore Washington Medical Center, Howard County General, Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Franklin Square Hospital, Sibley Memorial, and Anne Arundel Medical Center. Mark has often been extended for excellent performance and even made his way back for round two at many of the above locations. He has no doubt touched the lives of countless patients and we are proud to have him as part of the CMS family.
But don’t just take my word for it – see what some of his clinical managers have to say:
*Mark is a great nurse with excellent clinical skills. He is always a pleasure to work and is never rattled by any assignment no matter how difficult.
*Mark is competent and flexible, He has been a welcome addition to our team while we are short-staffed. We are so luck to have him.
*Mark is a wonderful addition to our staff!
Read on for Mark’s story and join me in congratulating him on this great honor!
I grew up in Erie, PA and moved to Maryland in 1998 and live in Ellicott City. From a young age I wanted to work in the medical field and in High School discovered nursing. I started nursing school late in life as a second career. Graduated from CCBC in 2005. I started my career in the ED which is my comfort zone and passion. I chose to expand my skill set at CNMC in the PICU. This was a challenging endeavor but well worth the effort. I have been working for CMS since 2011 and can say I have never been without a contract. I joined the CMS team after working for three other agency (Quality, Medstaff and FlexRn). The CMS staff has made each new contract manageable. I currently work a full time staff job at CNMC and do full time hours via contracts through CMS. This is a tough schedule at times but made possible by my wife Stephanie. Stephanie is very supportive of my working so much for the family.
The staff at CMS make the difference. No matter what issue you need addressed or concern you have the staff is always willing to help. I recommend CMS to nurses often. When nurses I work with ask about doing agency I gladly text them information for CMS and say tell them Mark sent you. Being successful is really quite simple, surround yourself with supportive people work hard and believe in yourself. Little known fact about me is I enjoy reading classic literature and philosophy. I was surprised to learn I was being named the ” Agency Clinician of the Month”
Again thank you for the honor. And here is to continuing with the best agency I have ever worked with.
