Congratulations to Beth Audet for being the winner of the CMS Agency Clinician of the Month award for November! Beth joined CMS in 2014 and has been doing an exemplary job ever since.
Even though she’s a fan of the Ravens, her heart is in Philadelphia with the Eagles, where she and her father would go to games on a regular basis. I guess we can forgive her for putting the Eagles over the Ravens… Congratulation again to Beth! And here’s some more interesting information about her:
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Bordentown, NJ. A semi-rural, small, historic town along the Delaware River.
How did you get into healthcare, specifically L&D and Forensic Examination nursing?
I always loved healthcare, but never thought I could get past cat dissection in A&P. I guess you could say I was divinely inspired, so I went to my community college and registered. Also, there was a job opening at the college (that was only open ten minutes, literally) that I was hired for on the spot! I qualified for full financial aid – even books! – and graduated with two degrees.
I have always loved women’s health. After about two years in Med/Surg skill building, I made the lateral move to Labor and Delivery. I never looked back. Forensics came when the hospital was looking for new recruits. The program was small but the education was strong. It is long and detail oriented but rewarding work. The specialty of forensics is still very young and growing rapidly.
Where did you work before CMS, and how did you learn about CMS?
I worked at HCGH before Joey Middleton referred me.
What is your favorite part about your current agency assignment through CMS?
My current assignment is “the one” you always want. Friendly people, good schedule and cooperative management.
Past assignments through CMS?
I love the flexibility and freedom agency gives me. Just something you don’t have when regular staff.
What is your favorite part about working for an agency?
Would you recommend agency nursing to other clinicians?
Absolutely! Why? I’ve never seen happier people at work! And the entire staff is ready and willing to help with even the smallest thing!
What has made you so successful in your career?
Relentless pursuit of education.
What are your hobbies?
Knitting, watching football, Anglophile TV (I’m a BBC junkie) and reading. And I love love love pens. Can’t seem to have enough!
Let us know one random interesting fact about you very few people know.
My first career ambition was to be a ballet dancer.
What was your reaction to being named ‘Agency Clinician of the Month?
I was surprised. Happy, but surprised!
