Posted: & Filed Under: Clinician of the Month

Please join me in congratulating Kareema McKellar with October’s CMS agency clinician of the month award! As an agency that primarily staffs nursing departments, we are VERY excited to honor Kareema as our first allied health professional to win this award! Kareema has almost 10 years experience as an ARRT certified Radiologic Technologist and has spent the last 3 years in the Cath Lab setting. She was extended at her first assignment with CMS at Prince George’s Hospital and has returned to working agency after a short stint at INOVA Fairfax to complete 2 more successful contracts at University of MD Medical Center. Kareema receives amazing feedback from her clinical supervisors on site, and the administrative team (especially her recruiter, Kierra) just love working with her – check out some feedback below:

Kareema’s been a great rad tech to work with. It is always been a pleasure having her on contract. She goes above and beyond and picks up extra shifts whenever she is able. If I need anything from her, I can always count on her to get it done quickly. She is a very dependable clinician. – Recruiter
Anything timekeeping related that we need her to follow up on, she does it without hesitation and will make sure she corrects whatever issue occurs so it does not happen in the future. She always provides accurate backup timecards. She is very nice and a great clinician to work with. – Payroll Team
Ms. McKellar is a joy to work with. She has quickly become a valuable member of our team! – Cath Lab Director
Kareema is a pleasure to work with on a daily basis. She is a true team player with tremendous experience in the cath world. She is kind and humerous making her a great fit with our team. – Cath Lab Manager
Kareema helped us out by picking up all shifts both weekday and weekends. She was a positive teammate who assisted everyone when she could. She was quick to learn new technology and workflows. – Cath Lab Supervisor

What wonderful feedback for a such a stellar clinician! We asked Kareema to take the time to share some information about her career and journey with CMS and beyond to learn what has made her so successful. Check it out below:

Hi CMS:

Thank you again!!!

Here is some information about myself:

I grew up in Philadelphia Pa, an under served area.

I got into health care by starting my first hospital job with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia when I was 19yrs old. I was employed with CHOP for 10years. I started out as a environmental service worker and later transfered into there Radiology department as a Radiographer after completing my Radiology degree at Drexel University in 2005.

I left CHOP to take a position full time with Johns Hopkins for 3years before starting my first travel assignment with CMS. One of my co workers with Johns Hopkins spoke so well about traveling that I wanted to try it!!

I LOVE working for an agency particularly CMS! I say this because the company staff is very pleasant, responds to any matter quickly and efficiently, very concerned about their employees!!!! also the job listings are very clear and to the point!

I am always recommending CMS and will continue.

The most important thing I love about traveling is you have flexibility time off and I get to meet a great deal of new people.

What has made me successful in my career is not taking any work place issues personal, when I leave out the door the issues (if any) stays there! It decreases stress that way and employers are much happier with you. This is also advice I would share with any employee.

My hobbies are reading and doing word search. After Obtaining my RN license this past July 2018. I have been able to start back working out as well as my hobby.

What most may not know is that I have a 9 year old daughter who Loves gymnastics😊

Thank you very much for selecting me as employee of the month! Really makes me feel greatly appreciated!!

Congrats again, Kareema – we are so luck to have you as part of our team, and wishing you many years of continued success!
