Please join CMS in congratulating Jaala Palmer as April’s clinician of the month. Jaala grew up in Baltimore county before relocating to FL and starting in nursing school. She got her start in a floating position and held it down on a variety of MS and Tele floors. After moving to WV for a staff position Jaala started her first travel assignment in PA. She found CMS via internet job boards and reviews and made the leap to switch agencies after reviewing options and benefits with our team – especially her recruiter, Reen Parks! Jaala has been a welcome addition to the team and receives wonderful feedback from our both the administrative and clinical staff. Check out some of the love below!

Awesome job, Jaala! We asked her to share a bit about her healthcare journey and what led her to this point. Take a peek at her story below:
Where did you grow up? How did that impact where you are in your career today?
I grew up mostly in the suburbs of Baltimore County, MD. It wasn’t until I lived in Florida that I decided to go to Nursing school. Ultimately I wanted the comfort of knowing there was going to be a job anywhere.
How did you get into healthcare, specifically Tele/MS nursing?
Out of nursing school, I accepted a job as a float nurse between 3 med surg floors. My home base was the tele unit. I liked it and it just stuck with me!
Where did you work before CMS, and how did you learn about CMS?
Before CMS I’ve worked in Florida and West Virginia FT. I heard of CMS through the internet job boards.
What is your favorite part about your current agency assignment through CMS? Past assignments through CMS?
This is my first assignment through CMS. I currently travel to and from my assignment daily (still a 70 mi journey one way), and I have been extending for some time. The unit I’m on has been flexible and supportive.
What is your favorite part about working for an agency?
Weekly pay 😉
Would you recommend agency nursing to other clinicians? Why?
yes. although it’s not for everyone. I am lucky enough to have a wonderful support system at home.
