We are all so excited to honor Lacey Sahuque with the clinician of the month award for March. Lacey has been with CMS since the beginning of 2015 and has been extended 8 times (yes you read that correct – 8 times!) at Greater Baltimore Medical center in the ER. Lacey has been a pleasure to work with for the administrative team in the office and the feedback is equally fantastic from her clinical squad in the ER. We recently received this lovely feedback from a patient in the ER:
‘I could not be more appreciative of the great care I received during my recent ER visit. Everyone I encountered – particularly Lacey Sahuque RN – was kind, caring and supportive of me and my wife and young daughter. Thank you! Great job!’
And here is what some of her clinical supervisors have had to add:
‘Lacey is a superb nurse, very energentic and a great team player! She uses good judgement and has great critical care skills.’
‘One of the best nurses we have ever worked with. Can’t say enough great things about Lacey!’
‘Lacey is an exceptional and professional nurse. She excels at critical thinking and her compassion can’t be beat. She will always be welcome here!’
WOW! Talk about showing some love. Amazing job, Lacey. To learn a bit more about Lacey and her career path see the Q & A below:
Where did you grow up? Mississippi Gulf Coast
How did you get into healthcare, specifically ER nursing? I chose to pursue a nursing career after doing research in neuroscience for a few years after my first degree. I wanted a career that allowed me to help others in a more direct way. I was lucky to get a job in the emergency department as a new grad.
Where did you work before CMS, and how did you learn about CMS? I worked in the San Francisco Bay Area at St. Rose Hospital in Hayward, CA. I learned of CMS through my job search when I moved to Baltimore.
What is your favorite part about your current agency assignment through CMS? Past assignments through CMS? I like my coworkers. They’re helpful and supportive.
What is your favorite part about working for an agency? Knowing my requested days off in my contract will be honored.
Would you recommend agency nursing to other clinicians? Why? CMS has an amazing, supportive, friendly, and helpful staff. I would recommend them to anyone.
What has made you so successful in your career? I still really like people and helping others is an extremely rewarding experience.
What are your hobbies? Does grocery shopping count and taking care of a toddler count? Other than that, yoga and focusing on health and fitness.
Let us know one random interesting fact about you very few people know. I grew up in a very rural town in Southern Mississippi. People rarely know this because I have no accent.
What was your reaction to being named ‘Agency Clinician of the Month’? Gratitude
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your story with us, Lacey, and congrats again being named agency clinician of the month. We are so luck to have you as part of the CMS team and I know your GBMC family appreciates all you do as well. Namaste!
