This is a permanent placement position (but will consider temp to perm candidates). General outpatient experience preferred – primarily will be doing pre-op / post-op / patient education. RN will work on their surgical services team. This is a 6 day a week position, Monday-Saturday, 40 hours per week, working between the Baltimore and Annapolis locations. Women’s health experience required.
SUMMARY: Under general direction of clinicians for the performance of the provision
of reproductive health nursing care to PPM patients and under the general direction of the Regional Surgical Services Director for the operational and administrative performance, the Licensed Nurse coordinates and monitors medical services, including medications in accordance with the requirements of regulatory agencies and in response to individual client needs.
1.Responsible for supervision and training of medical tasks preformed by Surgical Assistants and Educators to include but not be limited to, sonograms, medical history, counseling, medication administration, informed consents, IV heplock inserts, RH and HCT testing, vital signs, and patient education.
2.Responsible for medication preparation, administration, and patient monitoring in accordance with PPM Standards and Guidelines and applicable regulations.
3.Assist Clinician during surgical procedures. Check chart to assure all lab work, history, vital signs, education and consents are properly executed and recorded before procedure begins.
4.Prepare Recovery Room for a surgical day with appropriate medications, patient information and equipment.
5.Provide nursing care to patients in PPM recovery room in accordance with all PPM Standards & Guidelines. Reviews charts to assure complete documentation. Completes data requests for reporting requirements.
6.Does sonograms, medical histories, counseling, vitals, lab, etc. as needed in all aspects of PPM services to insure patient flow and quality health care.
7.Upon patient discharge, assures all patients are stable, have emergency numbers, plans for post op check, and all ordered medications and contraception.
8.Coordinates care of surgical clients, as directed.
9.Participates in the quality assurance and improvement program.
10.Assists with management of follow-up systems.
11.Maintains medications/crash cart with ordering, inventory and logs. Ensures proper functioning of equipment.
12.Documents services in accordance with PPM policy and Standards & Guidelines.
13.Provides patient education relating to abortion care and family planning.
14.Accepts individual and joint responsibility in Health Center efforts to comply with agency Quality Assurance plan and guidelines and all pertinent government regulations including OSHA and CLIA.
15.Maintains Provider CPR and current Nursing license and provides documentation of renewal.
16.Maintains good working relationship with other management staff and works cooperatively with health center personnel.
17.Participate in health center efforts to achieve established goals for productivity.
18.Adhere to affiliate goals and policies on professionalism, wait time in-clinic and on the phone, and the system for addressing client complaints.
19.Participate in health center/affiliate efforts to achieve established revenue cycle goals.
20.Responsible for medical supply inventory management.
21.Travels to surgical sites as scheduled.
22.Able to work at other Planned Parenthood of Maryland locations within a 50 mile radius.
1.Participates in PPM staff education and training activities.
2.Participates in the orientation of new staff.
3.Participates in community and other public education regarding mission and philosophy.
4.Attends scheduled staff meetings as assigned by Supervisor.
5.Assumes responsibility for personal professional development.
6.Takes Medical question calls during workday as needed.
7.All other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift 25 pounds. Ability to assist patient from tables to wheelchairs.
Work With Others: Has contact with employees, patients and outside agencies, furnishing and obtaining information. Requires a cooperative and courteous attitude, as well as excellent phone and communication skills. Must be able to work as part of a team, willing to cross cover functions to optimize patient care and flow.
Compensation: Compensation discussed directly with client
Starting ASAP for direct hire (will consider temp to perm candidates as well)

Skill Set Requirements
Must have 2 years of clinical experience and 1 year experiences in specialty requested.

Please note: Quoted pay rate is for local candidates. Travelers will be paid the equivalent of the local rate minus housing. Housing stipends available. Please note orientation is paid at full rate and parking is reimbursed. Travelers please request a sample pay stub to see your take home wage.
